“Creativity is an act of rebellion.”

Or . . . why blogging works for me.

The quote/post title is from a (I think) Discovery Channel show on the brain.  A professor said this: ‘creativity is an act of rebellion”.  He went on to talk about how highly creative people have to think outside the box, to be comfortable not being and doing the norm.  I wish we would have saved that on the DVR so I could watch it again.  All I did was jot down a post it note :

“Creativity is an act of Rebellion”

I’m a rebel.  I immediately identified with the quote.  When you’re 41 and attempting to be a successful professional, rebelling doesn’t always come easy.  So being creative does allow me that.  And for those reading that don’t know me, I’m not being arrogant to describe myself as creative.  I am genuinily embracing one of the things that makes me, me.

We should all do that.  Genuinely embrace what makes you, you.  That might be a good ‘builiding relationship’ stage question.  “What about yourself have you genuinely embraced.  What is a quality unique and special about you?”

There, I did it again.  I got off track.  Typing about creativity being rebellion and the next thing I do is develop a Circle question.  Let’s take another side trip.

Have you ever seen a tumbleweed?

a tumbleweed

Well my thoughts and ideas are like a tumbleweed.  One thought connected to another and yet another.  When I am in my zone they really get going.  Rambling down the road with no care for anything.  The wind is the compass for a tumbleweed.

That’s why blogging works for me.  This morning I did a post on 6 tips for Circlekeeping.  I had to jot down 6 future blog titles.  (I didn’t plan 6 from 6).

Anyway, I get future blog ideas from blog I am writing.  Then each of those blogs give me more ideas.  I can’t believe I have ZERO problems coming up with blog topics.  I have blog lists on my nightstand, in my day planner, on the end table.  Right now I have 11 drafts.  That means I go into this wordpress system and could start any one of those.

That is how I make blogging work for me – I see unlimited and unending blog post topics.  I can look down my list of Categories and think up a post.

This lends to my creative rebellion.  I can write on anything, about anything, I just link it back to RJ.  Well mostly.  A  few blogs on hives and hair.  It works for me to mix it up, adding some of my personal touches, like blogging on being single or breaking up with someone.  I have a little place for personal growth on this blog.  I see Restorative process as helping people grow.

So blogging works for me because it is a place where I can be rebellious in my ideas and thoughts.  It is a completely blank canvas for me to work with.

Blogging is an expression.  I like the ability to express my experiences and help other people while doing this.

Blogging on Restorative Justice really works for me because of my deep passion for the topic.  Oh I am off again . . .images

  • “Creativity is an act of Rebellion” … This is thought provoking quote indeed. So I tried to make an overview of what was done by me during 53 years of my life…. Wow! …. Thank you for the help to remind lots of unforgettable shows of my artworks all over my country. That was unforgettable. So can I entitle them as the rebellion? I don’t think so. I would define the creativity as the breathing – I accept it as the proof of being alive. I see the rebellion as some conscious actions – as the searching for some goals, meanwhile all my canvases came out as if out of itself.
Term rebellion include some destruction, yet I see the creativity as the joyful acceptance of light and peaceful flight on the wings of the gratitude.
If to look outwardly, that may look like some rebellion and that’s no wonder, Just think. Though the sunbeam is the pure peace yet it scorch the ground underfoot …

It is so easy to put the different meaning into the same words and to start so the meaningless discussion. I want to avoid such misunderstanding and therefore hurry to conclude with the hot thank you. It would be fine indeed to dream over a cup of coffee together with you. at a moment, I shut down my Lithuanian-English dictionary , yet hope to open it again soon. Till meeting.

  • Your blog reminded me of the quote, “Women who behave rarely make history”.

  • One of my favorite people gave me a braclet with that same quote! : )
