Your social media and your restorative justice elevator speeches should vary.

Lets start with social medai:
You can connect Facebook and Twitter, so your tweets are your Facebook.  I did that for awhile, but felt I had two purposes for each.  Facebook, is me, it had to be I got deactivated last fall, for acting too much like a business.  I wish I did better with the [...]

Blogging keeps me grounded, it forces me to practice what I preach.

Chatting with a friend, who is active on Facebook.  She said when you post what you are doing for the day, it helps you keep accountable to doing it.  I related to that, and experienced it recently, one degree deeper.  I’ve been challenged to live by a blog post I authored.
The last post, before this [...]

Overcoming the feedback that I couldn’t write a story.

One of my college dreams was to be a TV news reporter.  It was maybe my 2nd or 3rd major in college, and I felt “at home” as a Mass Comm (communications) major.

I wanted to be the talented, smart and pretty woman in front of the camera.  I worked really hard at writing and developing [...]

My wonderful experience at the IIRP 12th World Conference on restorative practices

I can’t believe it’s come and gone!  Last week I attended the 12th World Conference, hosted by the International Institute for Restorative Practices.  It was AMAZING!  My first IIRP conference was in 2002 (the 3rd IIRP conference).  That is where I first met IIRP President Ted Wachtel, as I mentioned in another post, he impressed [...]

If you only visit one blog about restorative justice, make it RJOB.

I really respect and appreciate the work at  Restorative Justice Online.  As part of the Prision Fellowship Internation and The Center for  Justice and Reconcilliation the Restorative Justice  blog is awesome.
Dan VanNess and the other correspondents do a terrific job of combing the internet and brining together articles, review, opinions and writing helpful articles themselves.
You can also find [...]

Learning how to be a blogger, an executive director and a community member.

Life is about balance, learning and growing along the way, continuously making improvements as a person.
I need to share a few things today.
I removed a post where I offered my views and opinions on drug court.  I removed it because there is more to the story.  I did not mean to diminish, insult, offend or [...]

A new term, a passion and taking life on, full force.

Today in Bikram Yoga, the teacher introduced me to a new term.  “Yoga Buzz”.  We do a pose that gets your heart pounding like you ran up a set of stairs.  In reality it’s a backward bend in 104 degree heat.  I love it.  It’s not for everyone.  In one class I remember thinking “am I [...]

From Seth Godin’s Blog – YOU MATTER

Seth has a great blog, link to this post, here.
You matter

When you love the work you do and the people you do it with, you matter.

When you are so gracious and generous and aware that you think of other people before yourself, you matter.

When you leave the world a better place than you found it, [...]

Twitter as a restorative community, get in action to make it happen.

I am a twitter-er.  A twitterbee.  Right now I am following 600 people and I have almost 400 people following me.  I follow people based on interests in Bikram Yoga, Nonprofit, Restorative Justice and personal growth.   I have few writing and public speaking connections as well.
The thing I like about Twitter – is that you [...]

Back from a break, inhale, exhale . . . circles go round and round.

I am just back from an awesome vacation!  I took off the end of last week and the beginning of this week.  I traveled back to South Dakota, to the family farm.  We celebrated my Dad’s 70th birthday.  Most of the weekend was a surprise to him.  My stepMom, really did it up, getting a [...]
